INDIAN PURCHASE TOWNSHIP, Maine — A man died and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday in Indian Purchase Township.

Benjamin Harvey, 23, of Rollinsford, New Hampshire, was the rear passenger in the vehicle. He died at the scene, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Monday in a press release.

The driver, 33-year-old William Tobey, also of Rollinsford, suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to Moss.

The front passenger, 24-year-old Benjamin Farquhar of Millinocket, was brought to Millinocket Regional Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, the release stated.

Moss said an initial investigation indicates the three men were traveling west on Golden Road in a gray 2023 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when it swerved off one side of the road, crossed the road, and then went off the road on the other side. The truck then hit a group of trees and rolled onto its side, according to the release.

Moss said it does not appear any of the vehicle's occupants were wearing a seatbelt, and speed and alcohol appear to be factors.

The crash remains under investigation.

The East Millinocket fire, EMS, and police departments assisted Maine State Police at the scene.
