CLIFTON, Maine — A missing Bangor man was found dead early Friday morning at the bottom of Eagle Bluff in Clifton.
At about 12:30 a.m. Friday, the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received information regarding a missing Bangor man, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post.
According to the post, the man's vehicle was located by a family member in the area of Eagle Bluff on Route 180 in Clifton.
Deputies responded to the area with a drone team, and the drone pilot was able to locate was appeared to be an individual at the bottom of the mountain cliff, the sheriff's office said.
"The Maine Warden Service responded with [a] K-9 unit and went to the area identified by the drone pilot," the post stated. "Wardens [located] the man and confirmed he was deceased."
Eddington fire and rescue crews responded and hiked to the area and brought the man's body to Route 180. Deputies said the trails and rock cliffs were still covered in snow and ice in most areas.
The identity of the man and the manner of his death were not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
