Woman brought to hospital to be treated after alleged assault by Bangor man

Police said the woman was brought to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man faces two charges after an alleged assault Wednesday morning that caused injury to a woman who was brought to the hospital to be treated.

Bangor police said they responded to a call around 6 a.m. about a woman who was reportedly "bleeding from her arm and yelling for help" at a residence on Union Street, Sgt. Jason McAmbley said in a news release.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman outside the residence, and she was claiming to have been assaulted shortly before they arrived, according to the release.

Police said they were able to locate the suspect in the case, identified as 52-year-old Rob Gray, who was sitting on steps outside the residence. Gray was then taken into custody after police said they spoke with the injured woman and other witnesses.

Gray was brought to jail and has been charged with aggravated assault, a felony, and violation of conditions of release.

The woman was brought to the hospital to be treated for her injuries, which police said were not considered life-threatening.
