BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Bangor Fire Department has two new engines coming. Crew members said two trucks about 25-years-old are worn out and need to be replaced. The older the engines get, the department said the harder it is to find replacement parts. They tell us a typical life cycle for a fire engine is 18 to 20 years.

The two new trucks coming to Bangor will have updated technology including better pump capabilities and overall will be more reliable when responding to an emergency.

Bangor's Assistant Fire Chief, Anthony Ritano said the new fire trucks will be in town and be ready for use within the next two weeks.

"The break down is occurring more often. With that being said, the new trucks will allow us to be able to do our job with the crews not having to worry about swapping over to our spare truck because of break downs."
