Two teenagers injured in Augusta crash

Police responded to the crash located at the intersection of South Belfast Avenue and Hatch Hill Road Friday afternoon.

AUGUSTA, Maine — Two teenagers were brought to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Augusta Friday afternoon. 

According to a news release from the Augusta Police Department, the crash happened at the intersection of South Belfast Avenue and Hatch Hill Road at approximately 2 p.m. 

Police said a 16-year-old male from Augusta was driving east on South Belfast Avenue when the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree. A 14-year-old male passenger, also from Augusta, was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to police. 

Both teenagers were brought to Maine General Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening. 

The crash remains under investigation.
