WATERVILLE, Maine — A structure fire in Waterville destroyed one mobile home and damaged another Monday night.
The Waterville Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire on Heather Drive in Waterville shortly before 11:15 p.m. Monday. B-shift crew, along with off-duty career and call force members responded, Waterville Fire Chief Jason Frost wrote in a press release.
Upon arrival, units observed a fully involved single-wide trailer, with a roof beginning to collapse. In addition, the exterior of an adjacent trailer started to succumb to the heat and fire, Frost wrote.
"Fire attack priorities were to extinguish the exposed structure adjacent to the primary structure to stop further damage. That was completed successfully. Crews were on scene for several hours to fully extinguish the primary structure, which was a total loss," the release stated.
Frost said two occupants escaped the structure after waking up to the smell of smoke. One was transported by Delta Ambulance for minor injuries.
"We would like to thank our mutual aid partners who responded: Winslow FD, Sidney FD,
Oakland FD, Fairfield FD, Waterville PD, and Delta Ambulance," Frost wrote.
The State Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. No firefighters were injured during the incident, according to the fire department.
