AUGUSTA, Maine — A man from Gardiner who reportedly went missing Wednesday evening has been located, according to Augusta police.
Police said the 47-year-old man had apparently fled the area after an apparent child custody dispute on Swan Street around 6 p.m.
In the news release Wednesday, police said the man left on foot and was believed to have a gun, though he had not made threats toward anyone. According to officials, he was last seen heading south on the Kennebec River Trail, and his vehicle had been located.
Police said the trail was closed Wednesday night, and that no crimes were committed on the trail relating to the search for the missing individual.
In an update Thursday morning, police said everyone had been located and was safe.
"Everyone is safe and accounted for, thank you for your help and information in this matter," the department said in the release.
