Motorcyclist, 21, dies in Augusta crash

The 21-year-old died at Maine Medical Center Thursday afternoon after being flown to the hospital with injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

AUGUSTA, Maine — A motorcyclist from Augusta died Thursday after a crash involving a car.

It happened shortly before 9 a.m. at the intersection of North Belfast Avenue and Lambert Avenue, Augusta police said in a release Friday.

Hunter Davis, 21, died at Maine Medical Center Thursday afternoon after being flown to the hospital with injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

The driver of the car, a 77-year-old man, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, the release stated.

Police said the driver of the car was making a left turn from Lambert Avenue onto North Belfast Avenue at the time of the crash. Davis was traveling east on the motorcycle at the time, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation. Officials said the Maine State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit would be reconstructing the crash.
