AUGUSTA (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- A student at an Augusta high school has been charged after a threat involving a firearm was made against the school, police said Thursday.

Cony High School officials called police Tuesday after learning of the threat made by one of their students, according to a press release. The school resource officer was notified and began an investigation.

The accused student and his parents were interviewed, and investigators say it was determined the student was unlikely to act on the threat.

The student was released to his parents and the case has been forwarded to the district attorney's office.
