CARIBOU, Maine — A man from Van Buren has died from his injuries sustained in a crash in Caribou Thursday afternoon.

The Caribou Police Department said in a news release Friday officers were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck located on Route 1 near the Plante Road intersection.

Officers discovered 54-year-old Brian Parent of Van Buren was driving a silver 2004 Honda VTX motorcycle and headed northbound when 33-year-old Colby Doucette of Caribou failed to yield to the motorcycle while driving a white 2008 GMC truck, resulting in the crash, according to police.

Parent was brought to Cary Medical Center for treatment and was later brought to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight where he died from his injuries, police said. Doucette was uninjured.

Police said Doucette was charged with operating after habitual offender revocation with multiple priors, with additional charges pending.

Route 1 was shut down for several hours while crews responded to the scene.

The Caribou Police Department was assisted by Caribou Fire and Ambulance, Presque Isle Police Department, Aroostook County Sheriff's Office, and the Maine Department of Transportation, and thanked those who assisted Parent at the scene before first responders arrived.

The incident remains under investigation by the Caribou Police Department.
