WESTMANLAND, Maine — A man from Presque Isle has died from injuries he sustained in an apparent shooting Thursday in a small town in Aroostook County.
The fatal shooting in Westmanland is now under investigation by Maine State Police.
State police detectives with the Major Crimes Unit-North responded Thursday evening to a shooting on Westmanland Road, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Brandon Belanger, 22, of Presque Isle died Saturday as a result of the shooting, the release stated.
There is no danger to the public, according to the release.
MSP Major Crimes Unit-North is leading the investigation. The Maine Department of Public Safety said additional information may be released when appropriate.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Westmanland had a population of 79 people in 2020.
