Armed and dangerous man in custody after eluding police in Rochester, NH

Authorities in New Hampshire say they have apprehended the armed and dangerous man who shot at police and alluded them for hours overnight.

ROCHESTER, N.H. (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Authorities in New Hampshire have apprehended an armed and dangerous man who shot at police and eluded them for hours overnight.

Rochester Police had been searching for 27-year-old Christopher Thomas, who reportedly shot at police overnight. Witnesses reported seeing Thomas, a homeless man, earlier on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 11, with a rifle in the parking lot of Walmart on 116 Farmington Road.

Police found Thomas in a clearing next to the Rochester Market Basket off of Route 11 around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

Police had evacuated businesses along Farmington Road Sunday night on Route 11 and asked the public to avoid the area until around 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12.

Thomas is being charged with four counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon. He also has three warrants for criminal threatening along with four warrants for theft.

Helicopters were flying above the wooded area Monday morning trying to spot Thomas from the air and businesses still had their doors locked.

Thomas is 5' 8" and weighs about 160 lbs. The 27-year-old is a homeless man according to police and has multiple warrants out for his arrest.

SWAT teams are assisting Rochester Police with the search.
