PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Maine-based apparel company started by the founders of Tom's of Maine plans to open several retail locations in the coming months.
The Portland Press Herald reports Tom and Kate Chappell are looking for space to house a Ramblers Way Farm store in Portland as well as Portsmouth and Hanover, New Hampshire.
Ramblers Way manufactures high-quality wool and cotton garments that are proudly "Made in the USA," save for the occasional button or zipper.
The company was founded by the Chappels in 2009, approximately three years after they sold their 84 percent stake in Tom's of Maine to Colgate-Palmolive Co. for $100 million.
Tom Chappell says he travels the country making deals with various sheep ranchers for their wool. The products are then assembled in either Kennebunk or Chicago.
