ALFRED, Maine — Just after midnight Thursday, fire crews responded to a garage fire at 124 Kennebunk Road in Alfred.
First responders found a car on fire inside a detached garage, which was also on fire, with a house nearby, Alfred Fire and Rescue said in a social media post.
Drywall applied to exposed framing in the garage assisted in limiting the spread of the fire, which is considered accidental, the post stated. The fire department said quick work and water application also helped limit the spread, along with the fact that the fire happened closed to the fire station, which is staffed at all hours.
Fire crews from Goodwins-Mills, Alfred, Arundel, Ross Corner, Sanford, Lebanon, and Waterboro were on scene while Kennebunk provided coverage.
