BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – On Saturday, dozens of people gathered to celebrate the 7th annual Eastern Maine Pagan Pride Day.
The event took place at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor from 10AM until 4PM. Admission was a non-perishable food item which will be donated to a local organization in need.
The event was open to the public and all were encouraged to attend. Organizers used this day to try and change the stigma associated with Paganism.
“I think it's really important to not live in fear,” said Teresa Cassinelli, President of the Eastern Maine Pagan Pride Assoc. “There's a lot of people who still live in fear because of their beliefs and we want people to know that's not OK and that you should be who you are and live that.”
