PORTLAND, Maine — If you've ever wanted to partake in a 5K but have no experience with running or aren't sure where to start, the Form Lab in Portland is sharing a few tips.
They are:
- Know where you are in terms of fitness level
- Understand you won't be able to run the full distance right away
- Start with small goals and build up to larger ones
- Wear the right footwear
- Take advantage of services like the Form Lab's 8-week 5K training program
"We're taking the time to build up our cardiovascular fitness to get to that point," Form Lab coach Louise Mills-Strasser said. "Understanding where you are now and knowing that with consistency, you'll be able to cross that finish line."
