THOMASTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- If you're passionate about more than one thing why not combine them into one. That's what Zach Spofford did with his love of music and and a wood burning art form called Pyroglyphica.
The 21-year-old from Thomaston works out of his basement wood burning several pieces of art each week. He first tried out the craft his freshman year of high school and recalls it not going very well.
"We had one day and I was literally the worst in the class. It was all outside the lines and everybody was better than me," said Spofford.
Since that first day, he's practiced over and over again and now does wood burning art full time. With a passion for music as well as art, you'll find lots of singers in his collection including The Beatles.
"I'll be like in the movie theater and I'll go that's what I want to wood burn next," said Spofford. "You know I'll get ideas of what I really want to do and it's a lot of fun."
Spofford burns several different sizes of art work. His 5 by 7 pieces cost between $50 and $80 and his 8 by 11 pieces average between $150 and $200. To order your own wood burnt art go to pyroglyphica.com.
