The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first sprung on the comic book scene in 1984. They were the brainchild of Mainer Kevin Eastman and Massachusetts-born Peter Laird.
Steve Lavigne was a high school friend of Eastman's and he started working on the comic in its second year. That was back when Eastman and Laird will still living on Ramen noodles and, you guessed it, pizza.
Oh, he's also part of the inspiration for the character Michaelangelo.
Lavigne now owns a comic book shop in Wells.
