PORTLAND, Maine — With freezing rain, ice, and snow blanketing much of the state this past weekend, it didn’t exactly feel like spring.
Down East Magazine's Home and Garden issue is a sign of warmer weather to come, however. The April issue looks at some sprawling home gardens around the state.
The April issue also focuses on small homes in Maine. For the story, the magazine set a threshold of 1,000 square feet, but one home featured is only 160 square feet. The story looks at some of the perks of small homes, as well as some of the challenges, like having enough storage space.
Another featured story looks at making old things new again. The article focuses on people in Maine who fix things that usually end up in a dump, including one man who fixes old clocks, and also services many of the clock towers in the state.
