PORTLAND, Maine — Because money doesn’t fall on them like rain from the heavens, arts organizations almost never get to sit back and relax. They’re always scrambling, always looking for ways to keep moving forward, to keep getting better.
Given that reality, it’s impressive that the nonprofit Portland Ovations has been around for 93 years. Since 1931, it has been presenting a wide variety of live performances in southern Maine—a record that will continue into 2024.
