NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Places like Florida and Europe are often times where big time dressage equestrians travel for their horse's training. Maine usually isn't at the top of the list for opportunities with it's four seasons. Pineland Farms' Equestrian Center in New Gloucester is trying to change that with a world class facility and an Olympian of a trainer.
Tucked into several rolling hills with 5,000 acres of farming opportunities, Pineland's Equestrian Center might just be one of the most impressive of its facilities. It has a 260' x 100' heated indoor arena, stabling for 30 horses, and enough seating for 1,100 spectators.
More impressive than Pineland's riding facility, is its people. They've designed their dressage program around 1992 Olympic bronze medalist, Michael Poulin and trainer Gwyneth McPherson who won her first National Championship at age 12. Their goal at the farm is to raise world class horses and help riders reach their own Olympic dreams.
"They're believers and I have the knowledge and ability to make Olympic riders," said Poulin.
