Mr. Drew and His Animals Too join 207 — and one of those animals is a jungle carpet python

The snake, native to Australia, came to him when previous owners weren’t able to keep it.

PORTLAND, Maine — Andrew Desjardins owns and operates Mr. Drew and His Animals Too, a center in Lewiston that cares for and rehabilitates animals. Many of the animals he takes in are native to Maine and injured, or they're exotic animals that were once kept as pets.

On this visit, Mr. Drew brought three animals: a preying mantis, a snapping turtle, and the jungle carpet python. He says snapping turtles are one of Maine’s most misunderstood animals, often considered aggressive. He says as long as you don’t bother them, they’ll leave you alone.
