AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Even though Maine's population is one of the oldest in the country, our youths are making a splash in the realm of politics.
We have two of the youngest House Representatives in the country including the 3rd youngest, 22-year-old Rep. Anthony Edgecomb. Edgecomb is a Republican representing house district 148 in Aroostook County. He chose to run after helping his grandfather, Sen. Peter Edgecomb, with his campaigns.
"Great to be able to work with him and kind of fall into his footsteps," said Rep. Edgecomb. "It's also really cool to be the youngest in the state house and 3rd youngest in the country."
The college student attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle sits with his grandfather on the Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry Committee. He's currently in the second year of his first term.
"That was really exciting to be able to serve a term here with your grandson," said Sen. Edgecomb. "That's extra special."
Rep. Edgecomb isn't the only one in the house chambers in his twentys. We'll introduce you to the youngest representative sitting on the Democrat's side of the isle, Rep. Ryan Fecteau, Friday on 207.
