BUXTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Royal Lippazan Stallions are showing off their war like kicks and rear-ups at Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Buxton this weekend. Performing not just for their own benefit, but to help raise money and awareness about the riders who use horses to make leaps and bounds in the world of therapy.
The Lippazans will be doing everything from rearing up and kicking out on demand, to executing synchronized routines with multiple horses. Performing with the horses is an art form that has been in Rebecca McCullough's family for six generations. It's the choreography of each routine that she enjoys the most.
"I like all the music and putting the horses to it and watching them pick it up because they do pick up the beats," said McCullough. "So that's my favorite part is putting everything together."
The horses are sharing the arena at Hearts and Horses with the riders and instructors of the the therapeutic riding center during their two week stay. The weekend performances will help raise money for the program that Leo Senecal has been riding at for the last two years. Despite his Cerebral Palsy he's made big improvements to his trunk strength and mobility that his mother, Jessica Pulver, has noticed ring side.
"He's up on a horse and he's telling Jackie to start and stop and whoa and walk and he feels like connected and he has this experience of riding which is so awesome," said Pulver.
The Royal Lippazan Stallions are performing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Buxton facility. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 in advance. To order your tickets and for a list of showtimes visit heartsnhorses.org.
