LEWISTON (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- In 2014, the Emerge Film Festival accepted a role of bringing more arts into Maine.
This April, the festival will showcase 40 films, from documentaries to short films. Filmmakers like Ben Keller will be on hand to talk about the inspiration behind their movies, and what challenges they faced.
Keller's film, "Immersion" focuses on a program in southern Maine that gets children with developmental disabilities onto a surf board.
Kicking off April 26th, the festival has events happening through Saturday, April 28th, including conversations with young people in high school looking to start a career in film; local beer and food tastings; and conversations with local filmmakers.
