Kate Flora, a former Maine assistant attorney-general is currently releasing two new books which feature Maine.
Kate has written and published 14 mystery and crime books, most which involve Maine, including the non-fiction work Finding Amy, a 2007 Edgar nominee that she co-wrote with a Portland deputy police chief.
She recently released a work of non-fiction called Death Dealer gives an in-depth look into a high-profile and horrifying murder in New Brunswick, Ca. The book centers around the Maine Warden Service and their trained cadaver dogs which aid in the search for the most important evidence in the case, the body.
Her next book, And Grant You Peace, is being released in November. This book is set in Portland and will be the 4th book of Flora's award-winning Joe Burgess mystery series. The book starts off with a fire at an old commercial building which leads the main character, Joe Burgess, to investigate the death of a small child.
Kate is the founder of the New England Crime Bake conference which meets annually to celebrate crime fiction and nonfiction authors in New England. She's been an editor and publisher for the independent publishing company Level Best Books and she's served as international president for Sisters in Crime, which promotes the recognition and development of female crime writers.
