Spring and summer are great seasons for getting out in Maine. The sheer number of opportunities can be entertaining, which is a good reason to defer to Carey Kish, an experienced hiker and writer.

As the crow flies, Maine's coast is about 250 miles long. To walk it, though, with its extensive nooks, crannies, coves and bays, you'd walk more than 3,000 miles. So there are plenty of opportunities for adventures.
