New releases from Bull Moose include 'Deadpool & Wolverine'

Chris Brown from Bull Moose joins 207 with new releases out this month.

PORTLAND, Maine — Chris Brown from Bull Moose joined us in the 207 studio to share new releases on store shelves this month.

"Deadpool & Wolverine" (DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD (in two collectable Steelbook variants))

"Deadpool & Wolverine" had the highest box office of any Marvel Cinematic Universe film since 2021. Like the previous "Deadpool" films, this one is bloodier and with a lot more swearing than other MCU films. This allows us to see the nastier side of Wolverine, which was missing from the 1990s "X-Men" films. For an extra $20, the 4K version is available in two different steel cases – one with Deadpool and the other with Wolverine. We are hearing that those may be hard to find unless you look in the right place.

Trawl – "Tempest EP" (CD)

Maine’s funk metal band, Trawl, is back with its latest EP. The leadoff track, "SOS," is a masterpiece. The music is amazing, but it’s the lyrics that make it so special. It’s written from the perspective of someone who is going through a mental health crisis and asking for help. Great songs, like this one, connect people who may never meet. It can make people who are struggling understand that they are not alone. I’m a total believer in the idea that music can save lives. If you love to brag about world-class culture in Maine, make sure you include "SOS."

"The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (4K UHD)

Kino Lorber has done a new 4K restoration of this German 1920 horror film. It’s full of murders, with an amazingly spooky atmosphere. It’s very unsettling because there are almost no right angles. Jeff Beal wrote a new score this year and it also includes the scores from the 2014 Blu-ray. One of those scores is by Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky, who attended college in Brunswick.

Jake Shimabukuro and Mick Fleetwood – "Blues Experience" (CD, LP)

How about playing the blues on a ukulele accompanied by Fleetwood Mac’s drummer? This makes sense when we remember that Fleetwood Mac started off as a blues band. Of course, Jake Shimabukuro can do anything with a ukulele. 75% of this is blues, but we also have a beautiful version of Christine McVie’s "Songbird" from "Rumours." They also tackle "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and Niel Young’s "Rockin’ In The Free World."
