PORTLAND, Maine — Their name says a lot: the Sail Bums.
The Sail Bums are Gaylen Smith and Allison Bankston. They’ve been together as a couple for 20 years, worked in media in Maine, and now live on a 37-foot sailboat called Mollynogger.
They sail up and down the eastern seaboard, wherever the wind and their whims take them, along the way performing covers and original songs at weddings, festivals, tiki bars, private events, you name it.
The Sail Bums joined Amanda Hill to play in the 207 studio and talk about their lives. Check them out, but fair warning: hearing about their lives may leave you with a touch of envy.
