PORTLAND, Maine — In the last 10 or 20 years, Portland has earned a reputation for its lively arts scene. The nonprofit arts organization Portland Ovations might be justifiably amused by the relatively new buzz. After all, it’s been connecting artists and audiences through live performances in the area since 1931.
What does the 2024-2025 season from Portland Ovations look like? As always, the lineup is diverse, from "The Cher Show" to "Champions of Magic" and much, much more.
There’s a one-woman show. A free community concert. A Day of the Dead musical adventure. Contemporary ballet. A "Fraggle Rock" show. In short, there is entertainment for just about every taste.
"One of the things we think about a lot is how to be responsive to the community," executive director Aimee Petrin said.
The organization’s aim is to make an artful contribution to what people are talking about.
