Rockin' Raft Up for Camp Sunshine happening this weekend

The event is raising money for Camp Sunshine, an organization that has connected children with life-threatening illnesses with resources and each other for 40 years.

SEBAGO, Maine — The Don Campbell band is heading to Sebago Lake to raise money for Camp Sunshine.

It's his first "Rockin' Raft Up For Camp Sunshine" event and it's happening this Sunday, Aug. 25 at Boater's Beach. The band will be their starting set at noon.

"We've been doing our float to fight cancer out on the ocean... and we said maybe this will translate to the beautiful Sebago Lake," Campbell said about the event.

Campbell said he will be taking donations, and all will be going to the organization. Camp Sunshine's CEO and President Joanne Bean said she was completely on board with the idea.

Bean added the money raised will help support a mission that has been helping families in Maine for 40 years.

"This is typically the first time a family meets another family that has a child on the same journey," Bean said. "We serve the whole family and they walk in a little bit worried, but they leave with joy and [connection]."
