These whimsical art pieces were once part of a palm tree

Artist Peggy Roberts takes excess palm tree fronds and turns them into pieces of art.

PORTLAND, Maine — Peggy Roberts lived in Maine for more than twenty years before she and her husband made the move to Florida.

A change in location led to a career change for Peggy.

She left behind a career in real estate and turned her attention to another passion: art. Peggy takes palm tree fronds, usually found on the side of the road or nearby places, and turns them into pieces of art that resemble "whimsical creatures."

Peggy, who calls herself a Frond Artist, will be in South Portland over the weekend at the "Art in the Park" event at Mill Creek Park.

Watch the 207 segment to see how Peggy brings her creations to life.
