How a couple of 207 alums helped make two great Super Bowl commercials

We knew them before they performed in front of 100 million people.

PORTLAND, Maine — Had you wanted to buy a thirty-second spot in the Super Bowl this year, it would have cost a bit more than five million dollars. That comes out to $166,666 a second, and for that kind of money it seems reasonable to expect that the commercial will compel you to watch from start to finish with the keenest of interest and not turn away to get another scoop of guacamole.

62 commercials aired during the game and, weirdly enough, the two spots that were rated highest in USA Today’s Ad meter ranking each had a 207 connection. No, really, they did, and the connections aren’t some phony, in-our-dreams kind of thing. They’re legit, and if you’re skeptical, take a look at these clips from the commercials and our conversation about their ties to 207. We’re just two degrees away from Super Bowl greatness, and that’s as close as we’re going to get in 2020.
