Bar Harbor prepares for 'Maine Ocean Festival'

The festival lands on Saturday, June 8, known as "World Ocean Day."

BAR HARBOR, Maine — The Maine Ocean Festival is coming back to Bar Harbor.

The annual event is hosted by the Oceanarium and Education Center, held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are still available.

Festival Executive Director Meg Harris said the event is a great way to get people of all ages engaged with learning about the oceans around us and, more specifically, the Gulf of Maine.

There will be presentations given by local legend, Diver Ed and, the folks from Chewonki. The Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will be putting on a special production and there will be live Celtic music in the afternoon.

"The mission of the Oceanarium is to bring a small piece of this exotic world to the surface so visitors can gain a window into the everyday lives of these incredible creatures and the lives of people who depend on them." according to its website.
