The 207 Interview: US Senate candidate Demi Kouzounas

A dentist and Army veteran, she hopes to represent Maine in Washington.

PORTLAND, Maine — Demi Kouzounas, who was born and raised in York County, has been around Maine politics for a long time. She served as chair of the Maine Republican Party, but had never been a candidate for statewide elective office until announcing her run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Independent Sen. Angus King.

Here’s a quick look at her background.

Residence: Saco

Political experience: Former Maine Republican Party chair. Former Republican National Committee Northeast co-chair.

Work experience: Served as an officer in the U.S. Army. With her husband, she opened and operated dental practices in Scarborough and Skowhegan. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of New England's dental school.
