WESTBROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Maine's Department of Health and Human Services is helping Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook reopen twelve psychiatric treatment beds.
DHHS Commissioner Mary Mayhew says the department was able to grant the request because of its efforts to stabilize spending.
The hospital has been providing treatment to about 79 patients a day.
Re-opening the dozen beds will allow Spring Harbor to work at full capacity, and should also help reduce some of the wait times for psychiatric beds at hospital emergency rooms.
