UPDATE: Fire Safety Spokesperson Steve McCausland confirms the explosion was intentionally set by the victim, who has been identified as 71-year-old Stephen Laughton by investigators. The positive identification will come from the State Medical Examiner's Office. McCausland says there were also several propane tanks inside the mobile home which may have been set off by the fire.
SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The State Fire Marshal confirms a body of an adult male was pulled out from the rubble of a house explosion that happened in Saco early Tuesday morning.
According to police, the victim is approximately 71 years old and was taken by the Medical Examiner' from the explosion that happened around 1:30 a.m. on Pheasant Rd.
The victim's neighbor Robert Eclair, whose home was slightly damaged told NEWS CENTER, "My wife and I thought it was an earthquake or something we didn't think anything of it... we heard pops and a few seconds after we looked out our window at this side and it was lit up. So we looked at the other side and that's when his trailer was totally engulfed."
