AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- We have an update on a story NEWS CENTER brought you earlier this month about veterans who say their rights were violated at the Togus VA Maine healthcare facility in Augusta.

David Slagger, one of the two veterans featured in our report complained of aggressive behavior by an employee during his admission into the psychiatric unit at Togus in February of 2015.

VA officials confirm that employee is no longer working at Togus, and that the head of the VA hospital met with Slagger last week to apologize in person.

Slagger filed a complaint with the VA on February 19, 2015 about the employee whom he says got in his face, yelled at him, and threw a pair of pajamas.

The VA placed the worker under investigation and acknowledged an inappropriate verbal exchange in late March of 2016 after Slagger had brought his story to NEWS CENTER.

VA officials say the employee has not been working at the facility since May 13th.

The Director of the facility Ryan Lilly also personally met with Slagger and apologized.

VA officials say they are planning to have a staff meeting in the near future to go over the patients' bill of rights and the hospitals' involuntary committal procedure also known as a "blue paper."
