BATH, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating a double homicide at a home on Crawford Drive in Bath.
Lisa Bailey, 58, and her daughter Jennifer Bailey, 32, were shot and killed Sunday morning, the Maine Department of Public Safety said in a press release.
The suspect is Michael Bailey, 66, who was Lisa's husband and Jennifer's father, the release stated.
Police responded to 10 Crawford Drive shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting. Officers found two women suffering from gunshot wounds, the release said. First responders tried life-saving measures, but both women died at the scene, officials said.
The suspect fled the scene, and the Maine State Police Tactical Team located Michael Bailey dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the home.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will perform autopsies on the three deceased.
Law enforcement agencies initially issued a shelter-in-place order following what police, at the time, were calling an "ongoing situation," but the Bath Police Department lifted the order later Sunday morning.
