Hundreds of people flocked to Old Orchard Beach Tuesday afternoon to take part in the 31st annual Lobster Dip.

The event raises money for the Special Olympics of Maine.

"We really kind of need it to be a success to set the tone for how things will go for the year," Lisa Bird said. Bird is one of the organizers. "We're really thankful that people just seem to love this event, they love this program, so they keep coming back because of that love."

The dip was postponed last year due to bitter cold temperatures, but this years weather was much warmer.

Organizers say this was one of their most successful years to date. They had 270 dippers and raised more than $100,000.
