SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine — Northern Light Health is closing and relocating its clinic in Southwest Harbor, the health organization confirmed to NEWS CENTER Maine.
A spokesperson with Northern Light Health said Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital is making changes to its primary care service locations. In doing so, the Southwest Harbor clinic will be closed to relocate and combine it with a larger primary care practice in Ellsworth.
All nine staff members with the clinic have been offered positions at the new location or elsewhere.
The Southwest Harbor team will join the larger practice at 32 Resort Way on Aug. 30, according to the spokesperson.
"Because of continued staffing challenges and the high cost of facility maintenance and improvements, combining our current Southwest Harbor services with Ellsworth makes the most sense," Joe Gaetano, vice president of operations at Northern Light Blue Hill and Maine Coast Hospitals, told NEWS CENTER Maine. "In order to offer continued excellent high quality primary care and ancillary services to our community, moving this care is the best option."
The spokesperson said all patients part of the Southwest Harbor primary care clinic will be contacted to help transition their care.
