PORTLAND, Maine — At NEWS CENTER Maine, we’re excited to share Weather School, where we bring the fascinating world of meteorology directly into classrooms across the state.

Understanding weather patterns is more than just knowing whether to bring an umbrella. It’s about understanding the science that affects our daily lives and environment. What better way to inspire the next generation of scientists than by introducing them to meteorology at a young age?

By learning about the science of meteorology, students can gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and how it operates. Early exposure to this field can spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, potentially guiding students toward careers in these critical areas.

During a Weather School visit, one of our experienced meteorologists will come to your classroom and provide an engaging, hands-on, fun experience all centered around learning about weather patterns, forecasting, and the science behind meteorology. Here's what you can expect for students attending a Weather School visit:

  • Learn about different weather patterns
  • Participate in activities that bring the science of weather to life
  • Discuss weather extremes, such as blizzards and thunderstorms

Teachers who are interested in having a meteorologist visit their classroom can easily schedule a session by sending an email to weatherschool@newscentermaine.com. We’ll work with you to create an experience that’s educational and fun!

Let’s make learning a fun and exciting adventure with Weather School!
