SAD 46 schools closed Wednesday due to threat

Superintendent Kevin Jordan told NEWS CENTER Maine said the closures impact all schools in the district except for Harmony Elementary School.

DEXTER, Maine — Wednesday was supposed to be the first day of school for many students in SAD 46, but most schools in the district are closed due to what officials are calling a "specified threat."

Superintendent Kevin Jordan told NEWS CENTER Maine said the closures impact all schools in the district except for Harmony Elementary School. Jordan said classes at Harmony Elementary School would go on as planned.

SAD 46 includes the towns of Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Ripley, Harmony, and Athens.

Jordan said he planned to provide a statement about the situation at some point Wednesday.

Dexter Regional High School said in a social media post that all athletic practices and games have been canceled Wednesday.
