FORT KENT, Maine — The president of a public university in far northern Maine will retire at the end of the academic year.
The University of Maine System says University of Maine at Fort Kent president John Short announced his decision about retirement on Thursday. He became president of the university in April 2016 and will serve through June 30.
The system says Chancellor James Page will work on plans for a transition of leadership. An announcement of an interim president is expected before graduation in May.
