BAR HARBOR, Maine — UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: Police have identified a "credible suspect" as of Tuesday evening.
According to an update posted on Facebook by the town of Bar Harbor, the Bar Harbor Police Department is collaborating with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the State of Maine Department of Corrections Office of Juvenile Services at this time.
"The Bar Harbor Police Department worked in collaboration with Maine State Police, Acadia National Park, Hancock County Sheriff’s office, Ellsworth Police Department, and the Bar Harbor Fire Department, to manage the situation," the post stated.
UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: Mount Desert High School is on lockdown due to a "serious threat," the town of Bar Harbor said in a Facebook post.
Around 12:30 p.m., "a serious threat was made" reportedly putting the high school in lockdown.
"Reunification will take place at the Mount Desert Elementary school in Northeast Harbor," the post stated.
ORIGINAL STORY: Mount Desert Island High School is currently on lockdown, according to a Facebook post by the Mount Desert Islander.
The Islander reported students were to be transferred by bus to the Hull Cove Visitor's Center in Acadia National Park to be reunited with their families.
Law enforcement and school officials are working to address the situation, the Islander stated.
No additional information has been released.
