WATERVILLE, Maine — A Vassalboro woman was arrested Friday in connection with a robbery at a Waterville convenience store earlier this week.
Just after 7 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a robbery at the Big Apple convenience store on Elm Street in Waterville. The female suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Casey Glidden, had fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash before officers arrived, the Waterville Police Department said in a news release Friday.
At about 11 a.m. Friday, Waterville patrol units stopped a vehicle being operated by Glidden and she was taken into custody. Glidden was charged with Class A robbery, the release stated.
Police said Glidden was unable to pay the $2,500 cash bail, and she was taken to the Kennebec County Jail without incident.
"I could not be prouder of the work that our folks do every day. Crimes like these put every member of our community at risk, making a swift conclusion like this the best-case scenario," Maj. Longley with the Waterville Police Department said in the release about his team.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible, according to police.
