PORTLAND, Maine — A 22-year-old Wells man has been arrested for attempted murder in connection with an incident involving a firearm on Saturday.

The U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force, and the Wells Police Department announced the arrest of Emanuel Diggs, 22, of Wells in a Tuesday news release.

A state warrant for attempted murder was reportedly issued for Diggs' arrest on Sunday after Wells police received a report of an incident Saturday at approximately 4:42 p.m. involving a firearm at a residence on Littlefield Road.

Diggs was safely arrested Monday night by the U.S. Marshals Service and Maine Violent Offender Task Force at a Wells gas station without incident, the release stated. Police say additional charges are likely.
