WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville man is facing several charges in connection with a February homicide.
Waterville police and detectives with the Maine State Police criminal investigations division arrested 20-year-old Tyler Quirion on Friday, a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety said.
At the time of his arrest, Quirion was charged with murder, manslaughter, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The arrest and charges stem from a shooting that happened on Feb. 19 on Grove Street in Waterville, according to the release.
"The victim, 22-year-old Justin Iraola, died as a result of the shooting," the release stated.
An autopsy conducted by the state medical examiner's office on the day of the shooting determined the cause and manner of Iraola's death to be multiple gunshot wounds and homicide, the release said.
On Thursday, a Kennebec County Grand Jury indicted Quirion, charging him with murder, manslaughter, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail and held without bail.
Quirion is expected to make a court appearance on Monday.
