Police still searching for answers in unsolved homicide of 15-year-old Thornton Academy student

Ashley Ouellette, a sophomore at Thornton Academy in Saco, was last seen alive on Feb. 10, 1999, police said.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Police are still searching for answers 25 years after a 15-year-old Thornton Academy student was found dead along a busy road in Scarborough. 

Ashley Ouellette, a sophomore at Thornton Academy in Saco, was found dead just before 4 a.m. Feb. 10, 1999, in the middle of the Pine Point Road in Scarborough by a passing motorist, Maine State Police said in a Facebook post.

Ouellette was last seen alive at a Saco home where she was spending the night about two hours before her body was found. 

Her homicide case remains unsolved, 25 years after the tragic discovery, despite a "vigorous investigation and many interviews," state police said.
