Two people face drug charges, following bed fire at Brunswick Inn

The incident happened at the Relax Inn located in Brunswick on Saturday afternoon.

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Two people face charges after police found drugs in a room at a Brunswick Inn Saturday.

Police were called at approximately 2:27 p.m. to the Relax Inn located at Pleasant St. for a report of a disturbance in one of the rooms, said Brunswick Police Department Police Chief Scott Stew in a news release.

Stew said they found two people inside the room where they were called to check: Daniel Blair, 41, of Rumford, and Caitlin Smith, 30, of Brunswick. 

Blair allegedly set fire to the bed in the hotel room. He was charged and arrested after detectives found a “significant amount” of drugs and drug paraphernalia in his car, per the news release. 

Blair faces multiple charges. Smith faces one drug charge.

They are both scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Superior Court on August 23, 2023.
